Youth Programming
Rushford’s summer prevention programming focuses on building self-esteem and teaching tolerance among middle school age youth. The “Girl Talk” summer program serves middle school girls from Keigwin School and Woodrow Wilson Middle School. Girl Talk groups utilize the Media Smart Youth curriculum developed by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. This program will focus on girls, the media, physical activity and nutrition. “Girl Talk” encourages healthy behaviors for girls ages 11 – 14, and also teaches the skills needed to understand and evaluate media messages and how these messages affect their daily lives, by asking the “who”, the “why”, the “what”, and the “how”. This summer program is located at Woodrow Wilson Middle School. To register please contact Felicia Goodwine-Vaughters at 860.852.1080 or by email.
This program is funded in part by the Middlesex County Community Foundation, Women and Girls Fund.
