Tolerance is a state in which the body's tissue cells adjust to the presence of a drug. The term "tolerance" refers to a state in which the body becomes used to the presence of a drug in given amounts and eventually fails to respond to ordinarily effective dosages. Hence, increasingly larger doses are necessary to produce desired effects
