Summer Programs

Youth Programming

Rushford’s summer prevention programming focuses on building self-esteem and teaching tolerance among middle school age youth. The 2007 “Girl Talk” summer program will serve middle school girls from Keigwin School and Woodrow Wilson Middle School.  Girl Talk groups will utilize the Media Smart Youth curriculum developed by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development.   This program will focus on girls, the media, physical activity and nutrition.  “Girl Talk” will encourage healthy behaviors for girls ages 11 – 14, and also teach the skills needed to understand and evaluate media messages and how these messages affect their daily lives, by asking the “who”, the “why”, the “what”, and the “how”.  This six-week program will be located at Woodrow Wilson Middle School.
