Intervention Services

Studies has shown that In a given year, the vast majority (90-95%) of active substance abusers do not enter treatment or self-help groups, and (b) substance abusers have frequent contact with their families (60-80% either live with a parent or are in daily contact. An intervention is a process where family, friends and/or co-workers confront an individual about destructive behavior involving drugs or alcohol. Intervention services are the best way to make help available to those struggling with an addiction.

Intervention Process
The ultimate goal of an intervention is for the person to begin receiving treatment for their addiction.  An intervention usually works best when it is thoroughly planned and guided by a trained therapist or counselor.  Interventions by concerned family or friends of the self-destructive person often do not work because there is no plan for the person to immediately begin treatment. The presence of a therapist skilled in intervention techniques also helps prepare people prior to the intervention to remain calm, especially if the person being confronted becomes angry or extremely upset.

Rushford Intervention Services
Our Intervention Services are led by Kathy Ulm, Vice President of Behavioral Health Services. Kathy is a licensed alcohol and drug counselor (LADC) with more than two decades of experience in the addictions field. She oversees a team of highly skilled and experienced interventionists who work with families, friends and others by facilitating interventions, designing treatment strategies and arranging appropriate levels of care for individuals addicted to alcohol and/or drugs. Rushford’s intervention process is focused on involving a team of caring and concerned individuals who can assist an adolescent or adult struggling with addiction to seek help for the destructive behavior.
